Niagara Cerebral Palsy is celebrating its 60th birthday with a slew of events and new initiatives for 2014.

In March, the agency is holding its fifth annual Snowflake Basket Auction, the proceeds of which benefit the programs and services provided to developmentally disabled individuals and their families. The event will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. March 21 and from noon to 5 p.m. March 22 at the Niagara Falls Elks Lodge, 1805 Fashion Outlet Blvd., Town of Niagara.

All proceeds are used to benefit the persons served by NCP. In the past, funds raised have been used to purchase therapeutic equipment including swings, sensory chairs and rooms, and for the installation of modified living spaces for individuals.

Additional events include a charity golf tournament in June, an NCP-Sertoma-sponsored barbecue in August, and a fashion show in November. NCP also has a television show, NCP "Beyond Barriers," on LCTV Channel 20, aiming to highlight NCP's work, building awareness and advocacy for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

In addition to developing collaborative relationships and partnerships, the goal for the agency is to continue its pursuit in providing new and innovative services.

"We are always looking to meet the needs of the community to ensure that all individuals, across the spectrum, have access to the services they need," said John Reardon, executive director, "We are proud to offer a full range of services for individuals of all ages. We're the place for people, from infants to seniors, to come for services."
