The Western New York State Nursery & Landscape Association - now known as Plant Western New York - has declared its annual garden and landscape show, Plantasia, as the "official sponsor of spring." Plantasia kicks off as spring arrives, March 20-23, at the Fairgrounds Event Center in Hamburg.

This year, show attendees will experience a "Party in the Garden" as they walk through 16 different theme gardens created by local nursery and landscape professionals, filled with beautiful flowers, shrubs, ponds, water features, patios and accessories.

Chris Zeisz, marketing director, said the theme and gardens "are intended to inspire visitors to design and create a very personal garden that reflects their uses and needs."

Guests can enjoy an expanded "Children's Discovery Garden" with numerous activities hosted by the Aurora Waldorf School. Plantasia also features free seminars given by Certified Nursery & Landscape Professionals and Garden Marketplace with more than 175 vendors offering unique outdoor items and accessories.

Admission is $9 for adults and $6 for senior citizens. Children under the age of 12 are admitted free.

More than 13,000 people attended Plantasia Garden and Landscape show in 2013. The WNYS Nursery & Landscape Association has 140 member firms throughout Western New York. In addition to being a professional organization, the association provides scholarships and funds to sponsor horticultural activities for students and groups.
