After receiving feedback from the community, Cornell Cooperative Extension-Niagara County has decided to extend the due date for the Niagara County Fair logo contest until Friday, March 7.

Organizers were told the numerous snow days experienced by county students this winter forced teachers to make changes to their lesson plans. As such, they are extending the deadline to ensure all Niagara County youth (ages 5-19 years) have sufficient time to complete their submissions.

The community will be able to vote for their favorite logo from March 10-17.

"A Good Thing Growing - Celebrating Niagara County Agriculture" is the theme of this year's contest. Organizers seek to recognize, promote and celebrate:

•Farmers and their families;

•The produce they grow;

•The animals they raise;

•The beauty of their land; and

•Their contribution to our community

The first-place winner will receive a $100 cash prize, two tickets to the Farm-City Breakfast (the fair's opening event), and two weekly fair passes; second place is a $50 cash prize, two tickets to the Farm-City Breakfast, and two weekly fair passes; third place is a $25 cash prize, two tickets to the Farm-City Breakfast and two daily fair passes.

Visit www.CCENiagaraCounty.org for complete details. Entries may be submitted in person at Cornell Cooperative Extension Administration Building, 4487 Lake Ave., Lockport, NY 14094, or mailed to that address ("Attention Cathy Maloney, Fair Director"). If an entry is mailed, it must be postmarked on or before March 7. If submitted in person, CCE will validate the date and time of entry.
