New episode of 'Beyond Blue & Gold' premieres tonight on MSG

Episode features interviews with Tyler Ennis and Zemgus Girgensons, a look at the Sabres' new GM and a recap of the annual "Parents' Trip"

The Buffalo Sabres have announced MSG will premiere a new episode of "Beyond Blue & Gold," an award-winning video series that takes fans behind the scenes of the Sabres organization, tonight, Friday, Feb. 28, at 10 p.m. The half-hour program will premiere directly after MSG's coverage of the Sabres' game against the San Jose Sharks.

The latest episode, hosted by Sabres broadcaster Brian Duff, takes a look at two of the Sabres' younger stars: forwards Tyler Ennis and Zemgus Girgensons. Duff visits Ennis in his Buffalo home to get a closer look at his early hockey career, which launched him into the NHL. Girgensons sits down for an on-set interview to discuss his rookie season with the Sabres.

Another focus of the episode is a deeper look into the Sabres' new general manager, Tim Murray. Cameras followed Sabres management on the day of his introductory press conference and then sat down with Murray and Pat LaFontaine, the Sabres' president of hockey operations, to explore his hockey career prior to joining the Sabres, and his plans for the team going forward.

The episode concludes with a recap of the team's road trip to Phoenix and Denver, which also happened to be the annual "Parents' Trip." Sabres players were joined by their parents or a mentor on the trip to watch the team's games against the Coyotes and Avalanche, and take part in off-ice "family bonding" activities, including a tour of the MillerCoors brewery in Colorado.

"Beyond Blue & Gold" is an in-depth look at the Buffalo Sabres organization. It includes behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the team's players, coaches and front office personnel. Cameras have been following the team since last season and have captured every major event along the way, including offseason workouts, the NHL Entry Draft, rookie development camp and the buildup to the 2013-14 NHL season. The first season of "Beyond Blue & Gold," which contained 13 episodes spanning the duration of the 2012-13 NHL season, took home three Telly Awards in July.

New episodes of "Beyond Blue & Gold" will premiere every few weeks on Sabres.com and the Buffalo Sabres' official YouTube channel.

MSG will continue to air the packages of "Beyond Blue & Gold" episodes throughout the season and as the series progresses. Viewers in the Buffalo and Rochester markets will have many chances to catch the fourth run of "Beyond Blue & Gold" on MSG. After tonight's initial airings before and after the Sabres-Sharks game, MSG is scheduled to re-air the program 11 times throughout the month of March.
