The Ken-Ton Family YMCA officially kicked off its 2014 annual campaign Jan. 22. Just a few weeks later, organizers have reached 73.3 percent of their overall goal of $50,000. They're asking for the community's support to help reach the goal by March 19.

"The Y's financial assistance program made it possible for us to continue participating in many activities we enjoyed at the Y. The impact on my family has been enormous. It has helped us overcome some very difficult times in our lives, and we always have a laugh with the most wonderful people we have ever met. Without the Y's help, we would not be where are today - a happy and loving family," said Annette.

Every day, YMCA Buffalo Niagara works to support the people and neighborhoods that need it most by addressing community issues such as school readiness, at-risk youth, chronic diseases, and quality of life for seniors. The Y's annual campaign ensures those in Western New York has access to vital community programs and resources that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Last year, YMCA Buffalo Niagara raised more than $650,000 and gave out more than $1,000,000 in financial assistance thanks to the campaign. That equates to more than 21,000 people served.

Locally founded in 1852, YMCA Buffalo Niagara is an inclusive association of people committed to a common effort to help individuals and families reach their fullest potential in terms of spirit, mind and body. The YMCA's focus on health and wellness is reflected in the variety of programs offered for all ages and abilities. For more information, visit www.ymcabuffaloniagara.org.
