The Relay For Life of Lewiston/Niagara is looking for passionate volunteers to join its 2014 planning committee.

This year's Relay For Life event will be held Friday, June 21, starting at 3 p.m. It will continue to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Reservoir State Park.

Relay spokesperson Jen McArdle reports Lewiston/Niagara organizers will host a committee interest drop-in at the Town of Niagara Town Hall, 7105 Lockport Road, Niagara Falls, on Wednesday, Jan. 22.

"Please feel free to stop in to the (Town Hall) conference room any time between the hours of 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. that evening to receive information about Relay For Life and join our committee!" McArdle says.

She describes Relay For Life as a "life-changing experience where teams of friends, families, co-workers, and communities come together for one night to join in the fight against cancer. ... This event is an amazing opportunity to honor those we have lost to cancer, celebrate those who have survived, and show appreciation to those who have acted as caregivers to someone with the disease. The money raised at a Relay For Life event is used toward research, treatments, and programs that improve the quality of life of current cancer patients.

"No matter what skills, experience, and amount of time that you have to offer, we would love to have you join our committee. We can offer you camaraderie, and the satisfaction in knowing that your contribution will make a difference."

Those who are unable to drop in on Wednesday night, but would still like to join the committee, can contact McArdle at 716-689-6982, ext. 62545, or email [email protected].
