Pre-Olympic special 'Shaun White: Russia Calling' set to air Saturday, Jan. 25

Hour-long program to examine how two-time gold medal winner balances work and play while preparing for upcoming Winter Games in Sochi

NBC is set to air "Shaun White: Russia Calling," an inside look at how the gold medal-winning snowboarder is preparing for the upcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, and how he maintains his competitive edge.

Produced by Shaun White Enterprises, HSI and Bandito Bros., the one-hour special will air Saturday, Jan. 25, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. White will serve as executive producer.

In preparation for his third Olympics, the two-time gold medal-winning White is determined to win a third and cement his place in Olympic and snowboard history as the greatest ever. "Shaun White: Russia Calling" is a rare inside look into the challenges and sacrifices that are made in order to be the best in the world. The special also examines how White strives to find the balance between running his company, maintaining relationships and dealing with the pressures of everyday life.

White is a dual sport professional athlete who maintains some of the highest accolades within snowboarding and skateboarding. He has amassed numerous titles and victories, most notably gold medaling in both the 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympics. He holds the X Games records for gold medals and highest overall medal count, and has won 10 ESPY Awards.

White has earned the No. 2 spot on Bloomberg BusinessWeek's list of 100 most powerful and marketable athletes, as well as being ranked on the prestigious "Forbes Fab 40: The World's Most Valuable Sports Brands" as the 10th most valuable athlete. In 2012, he was honored for his work with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at the GQ Gentleman's Ball, where he also received the Style Award.

White is an active supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Target House, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, Boys and Girls Club and the Tony Hawk Foundation.
