25th anniversary of the drug- and alcohol-free event kicks-off New Year's festivities downtown

Join the Independent Health Foundation as it presents First Night Buffalo, the ultimate Western New York drug- and alcohol-free New Year's Eve celebration. The event will be held from 5 to 10 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 31, at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.

The annual holiday family tradition, now in its 25th year in Buffalo, offers family-friendly activities for all ages to ring in the new year, including carnival rides and amusements, laser tag, costume characters, music and more. Some of this year's performers include comedy juggler Evan Young, The Backyard Circus, The Red Trouser Show, Kevin McCarthy and a wide variety of street performers. Families can also take a challenge to set a healthy goal and collect 25 healthy items throughout the event.

"We're thrilled to be celebrating the 25th anniversary of First Night Buffalo with thousands of Western New York families in a drug and alcohol-free setting on New Year's Eve," said Carrie Meyer, executive director, Independent Health Foundation. "The Independent Health Foundation is pleased to continue presenting this fun, affordable and safe event. This year, we have another great lineup of entertainment, including a number of new acts that the whole family is going to enjoy."

The $8 event tickets, which went on sale Dec. 2, are available at Wegmans and include all rides, attractions and activities. Children ages 2 and under are free. Tickets are $10 at the door.
