Nominations accepted on the HARBORCENTER Facebook page

HARBORCENTER Vice President and Director of Hockey Nik Fattey today announced the details of the HARBORCENTER team of the month contest.

"At HARBORCENTER, we are committed to the development of youth hockey players and are excited to introduce a program that will highlight the success of individual teams," Fattey said. "We believe this contest will have a wonderful impact on teams and players across Western New York and Southern Ontario."

Participants must go to www.Facebook.com/HARBORCENTER to nominate a team.

Submissions must be 300 words or less. Submissions for January's team of the month will be accepted until Sunday, Jan. 12, at midnight.

To qualify, each team must list on-ice accomplishments, scholastic achievements, leadership qualities and any community involvement that may apply.

For example:

1) On-ice accomplishments may include sportsmanship, wins, record, any noted improvements, etc.

2) Scholastic achievements may include team GPA/average last semester, attendance, student honors, participation in school initiatives, etc.

3) Leadership qualities and community involvement may include community service, volunteer work, extracurricular activities, clubs, etc.

Note: These are just examples. Please be creative.

The top three teams will be selected and announced Monday, Jan. 13, on Facebook.com/HARBORCENTER. The top three team's entries will be reposted by HARBORCENTER Monday, Jan. 13. Of those top three teams, the entry with the most Facebook "Likes" by 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, will be the winner.

All youth hockey teams in the Western New York/Southern Ontario region, ages 8-16, are encouraged to submit a nomination.

Kevyn Adams, Adam Mair and Fattey will offer their coaching services at one of the winning team's upcoming practices in order to contribute to the development of the players. The HARBORCENTER team will record a featured video for HARBORCENTER.com.

The winning team will receive Buffalo Sabres tickets for players and coaches (maximum of 30 tickets). The Sabres game the team will win tickets to will be selected by HARBORCENTER and Buffalo Sabres staff.

The team's head coach will receive one HARBORCENTER Restaurant gift card (eatery opening fall 2014). The card does not include gratuity, alcoholic beverages, retail and/or other expenses incurred outside of the restaurant.

Submissions will carry over from month to month, but revised/updated submissions are encouraged.

This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook.

Any questions regarding HARBORCENTER's team of the month can be directed toward Taylor Gahagen at [email protected].
