Police agencies hold holiday crackdown

From Nov. 27 through Dec. 1, local police agencies participated in a Thanksgiving DWI enforcement program.

Participating were the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Village of Barker Police Department, Lewiston Police Department, Lockport Police Department, Middleport Police Department, New York State Parks Police, Niagara Falls Police Department, North Tonawanda Police Department, Somerset Police Department and Town of Niagara Police Department. All agencies used increased patrol units that were specifically designated for DWI enforcement.

Fifteen people across Niagara County were arrested for driving while intoxicated. The extra patrol units also had an additional 18 arrests, and issued approximately 360 traffic tickets.
