Redesign of Cave of the Winds complex, gorge rim trails and new police station to be unveiled

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation will host an open house to provide the public an opportunity to learn more about plans to redesign Goat Island in Niagara Falls State Park. The open house will take place from 5-7 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls, 101 Old Falls St.

The majority of this work is being funded through Gov. Cuomo's New York Works program and the New York Power Authority.

The format of the open house will allow the public to review the renderings for Stedman's Bluff, the plaza adjacent to the Cave of the Winds complex, the gorge rim trails, Terrapin Point, and the area immediately surrounding the Top of the Falls Restaurant. It will also provide information on parking lot No. 2 and the plans to relocate the State Park Police.

Though there will be no formal presentation or comments taken at this open house, the public can review the schematic designs, talk with park staffers, and learn more about how the park is being restored.
