Six Doodle Bugs! Children's Center locations in Buffalo recently hosted an annual food drive and collected 2,026 nonperishable food items to be donated to local organizations in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Cheektowaga, Clarence, East Amherst, Lancaster, Orchard Park and West Amherst centers began the collection Nov. 4. Boxes decorated as turkeys were placed outside of each classroom in the center as collection points. The Food Bank of WNY and St. Vincent de Paul Society received the donated food items.

"Our November curriculum focuses around the topics of thankfulness and generosity and learning appreciation. Hosting a food drive is the perfect opportunity to introduce children to the joy of giving," said Christina Fecio, director of education at Doodle Bugs! Children's Center. "It's so inspiring to watch young children get excited about bringing in items that will help local families enjoy a holiday meal. We have to thank our parents and center families for their tremendous support of this initiative."

Doodle Bugs! Children's Center cares for and educates children from six weeks to 12 years of age, including preschool/pre-K and summer camp programs. The BRAVO! Curriculum, which is professionally designed and exclusive to Doodle Bugs!, combines theme-related, age-appropriate classroom experiences, all-inclusive enrichment activities and a series of center events. Enrichment activities include tae kwon do and "Doodle Dance & Fitness."
