Erie County Sheriff's Office Report for Nov. 15, 2013

The Erie County Sheriff's Office responded to 156 calls from Nov. 2 to 8. Below is a sampling of the noteworthy incidents on Grand Island.

Deputies responded to 11 burglary false alarm calls and one fire alarms during the dates of this report.

Saturday, Nov. 2

•East River Road, deer struck - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident involving a deer. No injuries were reported.

•Whitehaven Road, reckless operation - A complainant stated that a vehicle was all over the road on the I-190 and then exited onto Whitehaven Road, where the complaint lost sight of the vehicle. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle by the description given.

•Staley Road, wires down - Deputies responded to a report of a fallen tree limb that had damaged electrical lines. National Grid was notified.

•Grand Island Boulevard, larceny - A complainant stated that, while his boat was in a local repair shop, someone stole various parts to the vessel.

•Stony Point Road, accident with injury - Deputies responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident. Numerous parties were treated on-scene for seemingly minor injuries.

•Love Road, pistol permit investigation - Deputies conducted a background check for a subject who applied for a pistol permit.

Sunday, Nov. 3

•Bedell Road, fire - Deputies assisted the Grand Island Fire Co. for a report of smoke in an apartment. Minor damage was reported to one apartment.

•East River Road, person down - A complainant stated that a person was down in the driveway across the street from his residence. The subject was located and it was determined he was waiting for a taxicab.

Monday, Nov. 4

•Monica Drive, larceny - A complainant stated that, sometime during the night, someone entered her car by prying open a window and then stole various items.

•Stony Point Road, larceny - A complainant stated that, sometime during the night, someone entered his vehicle by breaking a window and then stole various items.

•Bishops Gate Road, suspicious person - A complainant stated that a male subject was on the footpath between the street and the high school and appeared to be smoking cigarettes. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate any subjects by the description given.

•Laurie Lane, warrant arrest/narcotics arrest - Deputies arrested a 22-year-old woman from Grand Island for an outstanding bench warrant from the City of Tonawanda. She was also charged with criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument (a class A misdemeanor) and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree (a class A misdemeanor) after she was found to be in possession of a narcotic drug. She was transferred to the custody of the City of Tonawanda Police Department.

•Whitehaven Road, fraud - A complainant stated that someone opened numerous credit cards in her name without her permission.

Tuesday, Nov. 5

•Grand Island Boulevard, reckless operation - A complainant stated that a vehicle was all over the road. Deputies located the vehicle and driver, who stated he was not accustomed to driving at night.

•Fix Road, animal complaint - A complainant stated that a coyote was caught in a trap nearby. The Department of Environmental Conservation was notified.

•Flanigen Lane, residential burglary - A complainant stated that, sometime during the night, someone entered his vehicle and stole numerous items. While inside the vehicle, the suspects used the garage door opener to gain access to the garage and stole numerous items from inside as well. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Staley Road, larceny - A complainant stated that, sometime during the night, someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole various items.

•Staley Road, larceny - A com0plainant stated that, sometime during the night, someone entered his truck by prying open a lockbox and then stole various tools.

•Ransom Road, larceny - A complainant stated that, while he was at Grand Island High School, someone stole various items from his bag. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Baseline Road, accident with injury - Deputies responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident. One person was treated on-scene with seemingly not life-threatening injuries.

Wednesday, Nov. 6

•East River Road, animal loose - A complainant stated that a dog was running loose in the neighborhood. The dog control officer was notified.

•Bedell Road, accident with injury - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident involving a telephone pole. The driver of the vehicle was treated on-scene for seemingly not life-threatening injuries.

•Baseline Road, animal loose - A complainant stated a dog was running loose in the neighborhood. The dog control officer was notified.

Thursday, Nov. 7

•Ransom Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that, sometime in recent hours, someone stole an instrument from his vehicle while it was parked at Grand Island High School. Upon further investigation, the instrument was located after being misplaced by the complainant.

•Bedell Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated she believed someone attempted to break into her apartment in recent days. No items were reported missing.

•Grand Island Boulevard, suspicious incident - Employees at a business stated that a male subject was living in the woods behind the store. The subject was located by deputies and advised.

•Grand Island Boulevard, unlawful possession of marijuana - Following a traffic stop, deputies arrested two juvenile offenders for unlawful possession of marijuana (a violation). The juvenile offenders were issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Grand Island Court.

•East Park Road, criminal mischief - A complainant stated that she heard glass break in her house and found a window that had been broken by an unknown object. No one was observed in the area.

Friday, Nov. 8

•Love Road, suspicious person with vehicle - A complainant stated that two subjects were smoking a blunt in a vehicle while parked in the a business parking lot. The vehicle left prior to the arrival of patrol and deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the car.

•Whitehaven Road, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•Grand Island Boulevard, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•Whitehaven Road, animal complaint - A complainant stated that a dog was struck in the area of the I-190 and Whitehaven Road. The dog control officer was notified.
