Sunnking, a collector and processor of end-of-life electronics, has formally announced the hire of Thomas Hanna as its new president.

Hanna, who graduated with a BA in political science from LeMoyne College, and an MBA from RIT, has more than 15 years of progressive experience in operations and financial management, more than five years of not-for-profit experience, and has also spent time working in property management and the government sector. Born and raised in Rochester, he has spent most of his professional life working in upstate New York. His is happily married to wife, Karis, and is a proud father of six children.

"We are excited to have Tom join our growing team at Sunnking," said owner/CEO Duane Beckett. "Tom brings great financial knowledge and experience, as well as the strength and a personality that fits perfectly into our company culture. Those features and others will help us transition from one great chapter to the next, and solidify Sunnking as the premier electronics recycling company in NY and the northeast United States."

Hanna said, "This is a tremendous opportunity for me to join the peerless leader in the industry and to utilize all the tools and experiences developed in my career and education. I look forward to strengthening and growing Sunnking's unrivaled position in the market while helping each employee maximize their potential and goals."

As the electronics recycling industry continues to grow, it does so with a unique set of challenges, Suunking officials explained. One of the greatest hurdles faced by many collectors/processors in the industry is the relatively high cost and low value of processing cathode ray tubes (CRT televisions and monitors). Due to the significant volumes of this material and dwindling rebates paid by manufacturers, it is critical to process all material in the most efficient way possible to help maximize value. Hanna's strong financial background and past experiences were one of the main contributing factors to bringing him on to lead the Sunnking team.

Past President Michelle Read will assume leadership in Sunnking Logistics Inc., which sources various electronic components for businesses. Sunnking Logistics a separate entity from Sunnking Inc.

Founded in 2000, Sunnking Inc. is New York state's first R2-certified electronics recycling, data destruction, and asset management company dealing in end-of-life electronic equipment. With facilities located in Buffalo and Brockport, Sunnking specializes in collecting, refurbishing, reselling and recycling electronic products from residential and commercial customers throughout the northeast.
