Fred (James) Mumm, 77, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Hospice of Buffalo after a long battle with Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and diabetes. Fred is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Janet (Radder) Mumm, and his daughter, Heidi Sue (Mumm) McCormick, and son-in-law, Scott McCormick. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy Seville and sisters-in-law, Sue Radder and Carol Murphy, as well as his mother in-law Helen Radder. Fred is predeceased by his parents Charles and Gertrude (James) Mumm, his sister Patricia Loomes, his father in-law Rollie Radder, and sister in-law Marilyn Radder. Fred is also father to his beloved dogs Buddy and Dixi, as well as his cats: George, Sami and Toni, and grand-doggies Biscuit and Sadie. He joins Seymor, Tippy, Puddin, Muffy, Sally, Patches, Patti, Mikey, Alex and Chelsea in Heaven's Ark. Mr. Mumm is also survived by his many "ladybug" grandchildren.

Fred grew up in Williamsville. He was a member of the National Guard and he worked for Dunlop Tire as an accountant for 36 years. He took early retirement in 1991 due to personal medical issues.

Fred married Janet Radder in 1966 and took his family on many trips to Florida. He enjoyed his time as a baseball coach in the Williamsville Little League program as well as being a "surrogate" parent to many Son Light Singers. He was honored by the American Red Cross as a 5 gallon-plus blood donor and Teddy's Islettes for never missing one of his daughter's parades in 13 years. In 1987, his daughter became the director of The Islettes' Elite Baton Team and he became the honored grandfather to over 100 Ladybug Twirlers. He spent many years as equipment manager for the "chicks with silver spinning sticks." During the last few years of his life, as travel became more difficult, his focus went to his animals. His love for his four-legged children kept him fighting his illnesses. Fred was thankful for the support of the Islettes' Elite Families, the Grand Island Fire Co., Trinity United Methodist Church and the WRBC men who built his ramp. His last few days were spent at Hospice with his wife, daughter, son (in-law) and his puppies.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the SPCA or the Grand Island Fire Co.
