Erie County Sheriff's Office Report for Oct. 4, 2013

The Erie County Sheriff's Office responded to 157 calls from Sept. 21 to 27. Below is a sampling of the noteworthy incidents on Grand Island. Deputies responded to nine burglary false alarm calls and three fire alarms during the dates of this report.

Saturday, Sept. 21

•Grand Island Boulevard, customer trouble - A complainant stated that he found his motel room in an unsatisfactory condition and wanted his money back. Deputies spoke to all parties involved and advised them.

•Love Road, refer to patrol - A complainant stated that loud machinery was running somewhere in the neighborhood and causing excessive noise. Deputies checked the area and determined the complaint to be unfounded.

•Grand Island Boulevard, hit-and-run accident - A complainant stated that an unknown vehicle struck his parked car while he was at a business and caused minor damage.

•Stony Point Road, motorist broke down - Deputies assisted a motorist whose vehicle had become disabled.

•Grand Island Boulevard, criminal mischief - A complainant stated a known person damaged her car while it was parked in a business parking lot. Deputies' investigation led to the arrest of a 46-year-old woman from Grand Island for criminal mischief in the fourth degree (a class A misdemeanor). The woman was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Grand Island Court.

•Stony Point Road, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•Ward Park Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that a vehicle was repeatedly travelling up and down the street playing loud music. Deputies located the vehicle and advised the driver.

•Hazelwood Lane, open door - A complainant stated she arrived home and found an open door to her residence. Deputies checked the residence and determined the door to be an oversight.

Sunday, Sept. 22

•Countryside Lane, suspicious person - A complainant stated that, during the late hours of the night, a younger male subject hopped the fence into her yard and then left the area. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the subject. Nothing was reported stolen or damaged.

•Alvin Road, larceny - Employees of an automotive company stated that, sometime during the night, someone stole various items from vehicles on the sales lot.

•Baseline Road, aggravated unlicensed operation - Following a traffic stop, deputies arrested a 24-year-old man from Grand Island for aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree and traffic infractions after a Department of Motor Vehicles check showed his license was suspended. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Grand Island Court.

Monday, Sept. 23

•Baseline Road, property found - A complainant stated that he found an iPhone and wanted to turn it in to patrol.

•Stony Point Road, traffic arrest/unlawful possession of marijuana - Following a traffic stop, deputies arrested a 19-year-old man from Grand Island for operating a vehicle with a suspended registration and unlawful possession of marijuana (a violation). The man was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Grand Island Court.

•Spicer Creek Run, animal loose - A complainant stated that a neighbor's dog was found running loose in the area. The dog control officer was notified.

•Grand Island Boulevard, animal loose - A complainant stated that a kitten was on the roof of a building. The dog control officer was notified.

Tuesday, Sept. 24

•Baseline Road, aggravated unlicensed operation - Following a traffic stop, deputies arrested a 19-year-old man from Grand Island for aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree and traffic infractions after a DMV check showed his license was suspended. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Grand Island Court.

•Grand Island Boulevard, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•West River Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that she found a syringe on the side of the road. Deputies took the syringe and disposed of it in the proper container.

•Ransom Road, illegal dumping - A complainant stated that several subjects dumped a refrigerator in a field. Deputies located the subjects, who returned and removed the refrigerator.

•Stony Point Road, barking dog - A complainant stated that a dog was barking late at night for several hours. The dog ceased barking prior to patrol's arrival.

Wednesday, Sept. 25

•South State Parkway, suspicious vehicle - Deputies located a suspicious vehicle parked on South State Parkway occupied by several subjects. The subjects were advised and left without incident.

•Stony Point Road, residential fire - Deputies assisted the Grand Island Fire Co. for a report of a house fire.

•Regency Court, pistol permit investigation - Deputies conducted a background check of an individual who applied for a pistol permit.

•Long Road, property-damage-only accident deer struck - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident involving a deer.

Thursday, Sept. 26

•Huth Road, larceny - A complainant stated that her bicycle was stolen approximately one-month ago by someone.

•Grand Island Boulevard, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•Grand Island Boulevard, aggravated unlicensed operation - Following a traffic stop, deputies arrested a 21-year-old woman from Grand Island for aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree and traffic infractions after a DMV check showed her license was suspended. She was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Grand Island Court.

•Grand Island Boulevard, driving while ability impaired by drugs/narcotics arrest - Following a traffic stop and subsequent investigation, deputies arrested a 55-year-old man from Grand Island for operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree (a class A misdemeanor), and traffic infractions. The man agreed to an analysis of his blood, the results of which are pending. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Grand Island Court and released to a sober third party.

•Stony Point Road, suspicious person - Deputies located a suspicious person walking late at night. The subject was advised.

•Wallace Drive, youth activity - A complainant stated that there were a lot of teenagers in the area being loud. Deputies located the teens and advised them.

Friday, Sept. 27

•Baseline Road, warrant arrest - Deputies arrested a 23-year-old man from Grand Island on an outstanding warrant.
