Presentation to focus on photography, history and social attitudes toward people with disabilities

As part of its "Dialogues on disABILITY Speaker Series," the Museum of disABILITY History will welcome artist and photographer Char Szabo-Perricelli. The event will take place on Friday, Sept. 27, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Museum of disABILITY History, 3826 Main St., Buffalo.

The artist will host a candid Q-and-A, as well as a presentation that will focus on architecture and the ability of photography to preserve and uphold the integrity of historic structures. Szabo-Perricelli will also share observations on the JN Adam Developmental Center, as well as her reflections on social attitudes toward people with disabilities.

Szabo-Perricelli has a passion for architecture, history and the environment, interests that are immediately apparent in her body of work. Her images, which focus largely on the unnoticed and forgotten, have been published in print magazines, in professional online venues, and as privately owned fine art prints. In several cases, her images are all that remain of historically and architecturally relevant places.

The cost to attend the event is $5 for adults and $2.50 for seniors, students and human service employees. The event fee includes admission to the Museum of disABILITY History. For more information or to register, call 716-629-3626.

The Museum of disABILITY History, a project of People Inc., is dedicated to the collection, preservation and display of artifacts relating to the history of people with disabilities. The mission is to tell the story of the lives, triumphs and struggles of people with disabilities, as well as society's reactions. The Museum of disABILITY History offers educational exhibits, programs and activities that expand community awareness.
