Judy Blake has announced she is a candidate for the Wheatfield Town Board.

She is a registered Democrat and is the endorsed candidate of the Wheatfield and Niagara Democratic committees, and the Working Families Party. Additionally, she has been endorsed by the UAW. She is running with Shirley Joy.

"I am running for the Wheatfield Town Board because I believe that voters should have a choice and members of the Democratic Party should be able to vote for a Democrat. Our opponents in the primary are Republicans, backed by former Supervisor (Timothy) Demler, who are trying to fool Wheatfield residents," Blake said. "I stand for the true principles of the Democratic Party. I support term limits for Town Board members, and I pledge to maintain needed programs and services while keeping taxes low."

Blake has been a Wheatfield justice court clerk for the past 28 years and has served as secretary for the Wheatfield Master Plan Task Force. She is the president of the Wheatfield Garden Club, which maintains gardens at Town Hall and at town parks as a service to the community. She is an active member of the Wheatfield Seniors, and has served in the Bergholz Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, secretary at St. James Lutheran Church and as a volunteer for Tri Community Ambulance. Blake is retired from the Technical Communications Department at Praxair, where she also ran Alzheimer's disease workshops for employees.

Blake has lived in Wheatfield for 42 years, raising her children Scott and Kellie. She is a graduate of Niagara-Wheatfield High School, as are both of her children.
