The Youngstown Village Board of Trustees took action at its Thursday night meeting in the Red Brick School Village Center in response to the community regarding the undeveloped corner parcel of land at Main and Lockport streets.

According to local sources at the session, Village Mayor Raleigh Reynolds, who along with trustees have been facing an ongoing question from residents and business interests on the future of the property, was asked a direct question, "Are you and the Board of Trustees for the village acquiring the vacant lot on the northwest corner of Main Street and Water Street?" The answer was "yes."

Attendees heard that the village and attorneys for the seller would begin the process of working out the language for a "non-exclusive" intent/agreement to purchase. The trustees indicted a need for a working document to exist on the potential sale of the property to enable its pursuing of grant money for the purchase. A sale price for the property has not been revealed.

More updates on the potential sale as news develops.
