The fifth annual Jonathon Cote Memorial Motorcycle Ride and Fundraiser takes place Sunday, Aug. 4, with sign-ups starting at 11 a.m. at Williamsville North High School, Dodge Road in Amherst. The ride honors Cote, a U.S. Army veteran who lost his life while working as a private security contractor in Iraq in 2006.

Cote was held captive and went missing for 523 days before his body was eventually recovered and flown back to Buffalo in April 2008.

The memorial ride gets underway at 1 p.m. and concludes at De La Casa, 1437 Ridge Road in Lewiston. Cost is $20 per driver and $10 per passenger to participate.
