Randy W. Retzlaff has announced that he is a candidate for the Wheatfield Town Board.

A registered Republican, he has been endorsed by the Republican, Conservative and Independence parties.

"I am running for the Wheatfield Town Board, because I want to serve the community. Supervisor Bob Cliffe has done an outstanding job in restoring the town's financial health, and I will assist him in continuing to reduce property taxes, as he has done for the past three years, said Retzlaff. "With my background on the Zoning Board of Appeals and in construction management, I understand development and what is required to manage and control quality growth."

Retzlaff has been a member of the Town Zoning Board of Appeals for the past seven years and devotes a great deal of time to serving area youth. A former board member of the Cayuga Youth Athletic Association, he was instrumental in the design and development of the softball and baseball complex on 93rd Street in Niagara Falls. Retzlaff is employed by Benderson Development as a construction site superintendent. He also operates a small business in Wheatfield.

He is a 1978 graduate of Niagara-Wheatfield High School and received his degree in civil engineering technology from Erie County Community College.

He is a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where he has served as financial secretary and trustee, as well as the Shawnee Sno Chiefs Snowmobile Club and the Niagara River Yacht Club. He also plays hockey in the Niagara Falls Alumni Hockey League.

Retzlaff and his wife, Darla, are lifelong residents of Wheatfield and have five children and one grandchild.

Retzlaff is the nephew of longtime Wheatfield Councilman Kenneth Retzlaff, who decided not to run this year.
