The Lewiston Knitwits (20 knitters and growing) gathered this fall, winter and spring to enjoy knitting and companionship twice a month at the Lewiston Opera Hall on Center Street. What began on a whim, based on a shared interest in knitting and crocheting, has happily culminated in an uplifting, shared beautification project.
"Stop by and check out the stitches. We've left little waterproof notes in the pockets. Take one. Leave one of your own. It's our way of 'knitting' our community together," Eva Nicklas said. "We're all off for the summer, but are dreaming up new projects to share when we gather again starting in September. If you already know how to knit - great! If not, 'try it, you'll like it' (that inspiring message is in the red pocket on the fourth stripe)."
