The Town of Porter Historical Society will feature Niagara Ontario Parks Commission Superintendent of Heritage Jim Hill in a Q-and-A forum on the topic, "Why Was the Niagara Region So Important to the War of 1812 and Why Should People Care?"

The program takes place at the Historical Society's annual meeting, Monday, June 17, at 7 p.m. in the Youngstown Presbyterian Church, 100 Church St.

This is the third and final program in a series of 11 programs that have focused on the history of the region during the War of 1812, and included such well-known local historians as Doug DeCroix of Western New York Heritage Press, and Dr. Thomas Chambers, chair of the Niagara University history department.

Dinner will be severed at 6 p.m., and reservations are required. Call 716-745-1271.
