Obit: Joseph 'Joe' Padlog

Joseph "Joe" Padlog, a retired aeronautical engineer, entered into rest May 12, 2013, in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a short illness. He was a resident of Grand Island.

Born in New York City, Oct. 10, 1924, he was in the Marine Corps during World War II and graduated from New York University. Mr. Padlog worked at Bell Aircraft for 37 years and received a Ph.D. from the University of Buffalo. He loved to ski, dance, swim and travel. He and his wife Ruth, married 60 years, traveled in their motor home throughout the U.S. and Canada. They also traveled to England, France, Austria and China, often on ski trips.

He is survived by his wife Ruth, a daughter Sylvia (Robert) White, a son Robert (Joanne) Padlog, grandchildren Patrick White, Alyssa Padlog and Cora Padlog, and his sister Florence Kravitz.

A memorial service is planned to celebrate his life on June 8 at 2 p.m. at the Niagara Falls Unitarian Church.
