10 must-see summer movies

As summer approaches, new movies are introduced and talked about. People get excited and ready to go see these movies. Here are 10 of the most talked-about movies coming out this summer:

1. "The Great Gatsby"

This movie is about Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) a writer coming to New York in 1922. Its during a time of jazz, bootlegging, and skyrocketing stocks. Carraway finds a place next door to Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio). He then is drawn into the world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As he bears witness to a lot of these things, he writes about impossible love, dreams and tragedy.

The cast consists of Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton and Isla Fisher.

Release date: May 10

2. "Star Trek Into Darkness"

This movie is the follow-up to the 2009 film. It is about the Enterprise finding an unstoppable force of terror within its own organization. A manhunt starts, to capture a one-man weapon of mass destruction.

The cast consists of Chris Pine, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zoe Saldana, Alice Eve, Karl Urban, Zachary Quinto and John Cho.

Release date: May 15

3. "The Fast and the Furious 6"

This movie is based on the events that took place in "Fast 5."Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his crew are now wealthy but still have their criminal records on their backs. After Luke Hobbs (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) tried several times to arrest them, he is forced to offer the crew a deal. If they work with him, he will give them a full pardon for all their crimes.

The cast consists of Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Gina Carano, Jordana Brewster and Luke Evans.

4. "The Hangover Part III"

This movie is the third and final film of the comedy franchise. This time, there is no bachelor party or wedding. The friends are going back to Vegas to find Chao. They, of course, get into some trouble doing so. They are trying to find him so they can get money from him to save Doug.

The cast consists of Bradley Cooper, Heather Graham, Melissa McCarthy, Zach Galifanakis, Jamie Chung, John Goodman, Ken Jeong, Justin Bartha and Ed Helms.

5. "Man of Steel"

This movie is about Clark Kent (Henry Cavill), a journalist who was adopted as a child after he was transported to Earth from the dying planet of Krypton. Kent feels alienated because of his unique super power and struggles to find a place in life. When the world gets attacked, he becomes the hero named Superman to protect Earth and its people.

The cast consists of Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Christopher Meloni and Laurence Fishburne.

6. "Monsters University"

This movie is set 10 years before "Monsters, Inc." It is about 17-year-old Mike Wazowski starting college, where he is majoring in scaring. Things do not go as planned when 18-year-old James P. "Sulley" Sullivan joins the same fraternity as him. As they start off being enemies, they end up becoming best friends through the situations they go through together.

The voice cast consists of Aubrey Plaza, Nathan Fillion, Steve Buscemi, John Goodman, John Krasinski, Helen Mirren and Billy Crystal.

7. "World War Z"

This movie is an apocalyptic horror film. Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) is a worker at the United Nations. He searches the globe for information that can stop the zombie outbreak that is bringing down nations.

The cast consists of Brad Pitt, Eric West, Mireille Enos, Matthew Fox, James Badge Dale, David Morse and Elyes Gabel.

8. "White House Down"

This movie is about a paramilitary group led by Stenz (Jason Clarke) that takes over the White House. Capitol policeman John Cale (Channing Tatum), a rejected applicant to the Secret Service, must rescue PresidentJames Sawyer (Jamie Foxx) while trying to keep his daughter, Emily (Joey King), out of danger.

The cast consists of Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx, James Woods, Jason Clarke, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Richard Jenkins, Joey King, Jimmi Simpson and Lance Reddick.

9. "Grown Ups 2"

This movie is about Lenny Feder (Adam Sandler) moving his family back to his hometown. Instead of him teaching his kids something, the kids are actually teaching the grown ups something this time around.

The cast consists of Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Salma Hayek, David Spade, Maya Rudolph, Nick Swardson and Taylor Lautner

10. "300: Rise of an Empire"

This movie is centered on Themistocles and Artemisia, as well as Xerxes of Persia. This film will focus on the battle of Salamis, in which Artemisia plays an important role, as well as the Battle of Marathon.

The cast consists of Lena Headey, Eva Green, Rodrigo Santoro, Mark Killeen, Sullivan Stapleton and Andrei Claude.
