Mayor Ortt announces concert plans for Gratwick Riverside Park

Mayor Robert G. Ortt announced at a press conference Tuesday the plans for a three-concert series titled "Cornerstone's Niagara River Rocks" at Gratwick Riverside Park on Sundays, June 9, July 14 and Aug 25.

Representatives of headline sponsor Cornerstone Community Federal Credit Union and several other high-level North Tonawanda officials joined Ortt in announcing Primus, The Tea Party and Rusted Root will be the featured bands for the lineup.

The concert will be free for everyone attending; however, there will be a $5 charge for parking at the park. Food and beverage will be sold at the venue, and no food, backpacks or coolers will be permitted at the park for this event. Kathy Paradowski of Special Vending Inc. is the promoter for this concert. Labatt, along with other sponsors, will also be participating in this summer event.

"When I took office, I pledged to work to bring back major bands and musical acts to North Tonawanda," Ortt said. "Last year's show was such a huge success and we expect these three shows to bring thousands of concertgoers to one of the most beautiful venues along the Niagara River, Gratwick Riverside Park."

Primus is an American rock band based in San Francisco, originally formed in 1984. The band released a total of eight albums since its initial album was released in 1989. Primus' acclaimed "Sailing The Seas Of Cheese" album has been newly mixed in stereo and Dolby 5.1 Surround for the first time since its 1991 debut for an expanded deluxe edition to be released May 21 by Universal Music Enterprises.

The Tea Party is a Canadian rock band based out of Windsor, Ontario, that has released eight albums, selling more than 1.6 million copies worldwide (thanks to songs including No. 1 Canadian single "Heaven Coming Down" in 1999). The Tea Party has announced intentions to begin working on a new album.

Rusted Root is a band from Pittsburgh known for its unique fusion of acoustic, rock, world and other styles of music. Rusted Root has sold more than 3 million albums worldwide since their 1990 debut.
