Town of Niagara Police Blotter for March 21, 2013

The following is a sampling of calls received by the Town of Niagara Police between March 12 and 18.

Tuesday, March 12

•8500 block of Porter Road, fire. Smell of smoke was reported by employees in an apartment being serviced. Patrols arriving observed flames coming from southwest corner of the eight-unit apartment complex. Initial damage was estimated at $250,000 to the structure. Niagara Active Hose Volunteer Fire Co. responded as primary with the following fire departments responding for assistance: Frontier, Upper Mountain, Lewiston No. 1, Lewiston No. 2, Youngstown, Cambria, Pekin, Grand Island, Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, Sanborn and St. Johnsburg, as well as Rural Metro Ambulance. Cause of fire was to be determined.

•1900 block of Military Road, false alarm. Burned pizza at mall business.

•2900 block of Military Road, larceny. Complainant said she left her wallet on the counter at a business and someone took it. Video showed a female taking the wallet. Patrol located the female, and the money and wallet were returned.

Wednesday, March 13

•8500 block of Porter Road, drugs. Patrol secured glass jars containing suspected marijuana to be destroyed that was found by Niagara County Cause and Origin investigators on scene investigating a March 12 fire.

•5000 block of Tindal Lane, disorderly conduct. Caller reported a fight between two males outside. Patrol met by resident who said his girlfriend's father came to their home, was highly intoxicated, and when asked to leave, punched him in the face. No charges requested.

•3000 block of Lincoln Street, EMS. Patrol assisted Rural Metro Ambulance and Niagara Active Hose Volunteer Fire Department with a call on an 18-month-old child having difficulty breathing.

Thursday, March 14

•2300 block of Military Road, EMS. Patrol asked to assist Rural Metro Ambulance and Niagara Active Hose with a 24-year-old man who fell in the business parking lot. The man was transported to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.

•Lockport Road, road blocked. Reported "war" protesters blocking the road in front of the Air Base. Handled by patrols without incident.

•4000 block of Fox Avenue, noise complaint. Complainant reported a neighbor was playing music so loud that it was shaking her home.

Friday, March 15

•6000 block of Porter Road, EMS. Patrol assisted Rural Metro Ambulance and Niagara Active Hose with a 90-year-old female who fainted at the registers at a business. Woman declined to go to the hospital.

•1900 block of Military Road, domestic. An 18-year-old Devlin Avenue man was arrested for two counts of criminal mischief fourth-degree, and second-degree harassment after his girlfriend said he struck her in the back of the head, knocking off and breaking her prescription glasses and smashed her smart phone following an argument.

Saturday, March 16

•1900 block of Military Road, suspicious person. Complainant reported a male wearing a black hooded jacket was walking through the mall parking lot checking vehicle handles.

•6800 block of Joann Circle North, EMS. Child hit her head on a brick fireplace in the living room. Parents transported her to Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center.

•400 block of Main Street, Cayuga Village, aid assist. Patrol assisted Niagara County Sheriff's Office officer who had driven a female home from a traffic stop and she became disorderly. Subject was highly intoxicated and belligerent. A taxi was called to the scene and the woman was taken to another location after her mother said she was no longer welcome due to her intoxicated condition and temper.

Sunday, March 17

•7200 block of Packard Road, suspicious person. Patrol observed a suspicious male knocking on a door at this location. The male said he was cold and looking for a ride home. He was given a courtesy transport to Kline Road.

•5700 block of Lewiston Road, aid assist. Patrol assisted Lewiston Police with a trespassing male who was acting disorderly.

•3200 block of Bellreng Drive, check situation. Patrol responded for a possible burglary in progress after a caller stated there was a man outside trying to climb up the exterior of the building. Nothing found.

Monday, March 18

•2100 block of Roberts Drive, suspicious activity. Patrol checked a report of a suspicious person living in a tent in the woods and found four juveniles who had made a fort.

•700 block of A Street, assault, possible burglary. A Niagara Street man said he was visiting his mother when he noticed a man walking toward a neighbor's residence. He followed the man to the neighbor's patio door. During a confrontation, he said the suspect shot him with pellet gun and cut his hand with a knife. Patrols set up a perimeter and a Sheriff's Office K-9 was brought in, but nothing was found. The owner of the residence arrived and said there was prior damage to his patio door from previous burglaries.

•8400 block of Carol Court, juvenile problem. Father reported his teenage son was acting out of control, throwing property around the house. Patrols spoke with the son.
