Meet the Easter bunny, find his Easter eggs

Looking to fill up your Easter baskets with the kids this weekend? Hop on down to any of these fun-filled events to kick-off your Easter festivities.

•The Easter Bunny will make his annual visit to Wheatfield from 10 to noon Saturday, March 23. This year, the celebration will move to the Youth Center on the Town Hall campus off Church Road.

•The Town of Niagara Recreation Department hosts its first and hopefully annual Easter egg hunt at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at Veterans Memorial Park, 7000 Lockport Road. Reservations for this free event are necessary; call 716-297-5243.

•The volunteers of the SPCA of Niagara will hold an Easter egg hunt beginning at noon, Sunday, March 24, on the shelter grounds, 2100 Lockport Road, Wheatfield. Admission is free. In addition to the hunt, the event will feature face painting and an activity table. The event, open to children age 12 and under, will be held rain or shine. Prizes will be awarded.

•The Kiwanis Club of Lewiston is hosting its annual Easter egg hunt Saturday, March 30, at Kiwanis Park in the Village of Lewiston. The hunt will begin at noon for children ages 11 and under. Prizes will be awarded.

•The New York Power Authority is celebrating the season by holding its annual "Spring Eggstravaganza" Saturday, March 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Niagara Power Plant's admission-free visitor's center, the Power Vista, 5577 Lewiston Road, Lewiston. Activities include free photos with the bunny from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., plus crafts, face painting and a scavenger hunt. Boy Scout Troop 855 of Lewiston will sell hot dogs. •The Town of Porter Recreation Commission will hold its annual Easter egg hunt Saturday, March 23 at 11 a.m. at Stevenson Elementary School, 3745 Ransomville Road, Ransomville. The event is open to all Porter children age 11 and under. Special prizes will be awarded to those who find the golden eggs and the Easter Bunny will visit with goody bags.

•The Youngstown Lions Club will host its annual Lions Easter egg hunt, on Saturday, March 30, at Fort Niagara State Park beginning at 11 a.m. Open to children ages 1 to 10, prizes will be offered in three age groups.

•The Wilson Lions Club is holding its annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Wilson Historical Society, 645 Lake St. in Wilson at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30. Additional activities include face painting and arts and crafts. Prizes will be awarded.

•The Herschell Carrousel Museum at 180 Thompson St., North Tonawanda, is holding its "Egg-cellent" Easter event Saturday, March 30, from noon to 4 p.m. Children can learn about the history of the Easter bunny and participate in crafts, games and other activities. In honor of Dyngus Day, don't miss a special performance by the Polish Heritage Dancers of Western New York, followed by an old-fashioned egg roll on the lawn. The event is open to the public at $5 per person.

•The Buffalo Zoo will host its Breakfast with the Easter Bunny on March 23, 24 and 30, with two seatings each day at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Prepaid, nonrefundable tickets are required due to limited seating. Ticket prices for non-members are $14 for adults and $12 for children. Children under the age of 24 months will be admitted for free. The 11 a.m. seating on Saturday, March 30, is sold out.
