The Town of Porter Historical Society's February meeting features a program on the Civil War, Monday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, 100 Church St.
William Tojek, commander, and First Sgt. Robert Wiltshire of John B. Weber Camp 44, Sons of Union Veterans, will discuss the career of John B. Weber in the American Civil War. Learn more about the war and the career of Weber who grew up in Buffalo and enlisted as a private during the Civil War in August 1861. In September 1863, Weber attained the rank of colonel, two days before his 21st birthday and accepted command of the 89th United States Colored Infantry. The program is open to the public.
