Erie County Sheriff's Office: Deputies nab 2 for DWI in separate incidents

Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard has reported the arrest of two offenders for driving while intoxicated by sheriff's road patrols in separate incidents on Sunday morning, Jan. 27.

While on patrol in Grand Island, Deputy Dan Harris responded to a single-car accident at approximately 12:15 a.m. This led to the arrest of Autumn L. Urbaniak, age 22, of North Tonawanda. In addition to driving drunk, she had in her possession a quantity of marijuana and multiple packages of synthetic marijuana. She was charged with DWI as well as criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and unlawful possession of marijuana. She was processed at the Grand Island substation where her blood-alcohol content was determined to be .11 percent.

While on patrol in Grand Island at approximately 3:15 a.m., Deputy Mike Okal arrested a 19-year-old Grand Island man following a traffic stop. After failing standard field sobriety tests, the man was taken to the Grand Island substation to be processed. His blood-alcohol content was determined to be .09 percent.

Both parties were released on appearance tickets into the custody of sober third parties.
