Temporary overnight lane closures are scheduled on the Niagara Thruway for both the northbound and southbound South Grand Island Bridge through Friday, Jan. 14, the New York State Thruway Authority announced.

The northbound lane closures will facilitate electrical work and installation of a new electrical system of lane designation signals on the northbound South Grand Island Bridge, left or right lane. The southbound closure will allow for survey work to be conducted.

•Monday, Jan. 7, from 9 p.m. through 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8.

•Tuesday, Jan. 8, 9 p.m. through 6 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9;

•Wednesday, Jan. 9, 9 p.m. through 6 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10;

•Thursday, Jan. 10, 9 p.m. through 6 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11;

•Friday, Jan. 11, 10 p.m. through 8 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12.

Survey work will likely require lane closures on the southbound South Grand Island Bridge:

•Monday, Jan. 7, from 8 p.m. through 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8.

•Tuesday, Jan. 8, 8 p.m. through 6 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9;

This work is part of a two-year, $14 million rehabilitation project, which also includes deck joint repairs and a new driving surface for the southbound South Grand Island Bridge. Bridge deck work is scheduled to begin in spring 2013.
