Public Information Officer, Grand Island Fire Co.
On Saturday, Oct. 6, Grand Island Fire Co. firefighters, medics and cadets reported to fire headquarters for their annual state of readiness inspection by Fire Chief Kevin Koch, who was assisted by line officers as well as Town Supervisor Mary Cooke.
Koch praised his volunteers for their outstanding 24-7 commitment in handling 1,100 emergency incidents to date. Cooke echoed these sentiments by stressing the time and effort expended in providing first-rate fire and emergency medical service protection for the community.
Meanwhile, Cooke also congratulated Koch for the recent acquisition of a new 24-foot Lake Assault Craft, which has greatly improved firefighting and water rescue capabilities. This state-of-the-art fireboat is equipped with twin 150-horsepower outboard engines, a 500-gallon-per-minute pump with deck gun, and front load ramp for water rescue purposes.
