Youngstown Lions Club President Debby Comerford announces this year's Lions International Peace Poster Contest will take place at the Lewiston Public Library Community Room. The public is welcomed to visit the library during the regular hours to view 20 student posters on display from Monday, Oct. 22, until Friday, Oct. 26.

Judging will take place at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23. Students, parents, teachers and the public are invited to congratulate the winning student with a reception of cookies and cider at 6 p.m.

If chosen as the winner in the Western New York district competition, the poster will continue to be shown at the state and international levels.

Lewiston-Porter Middle School art teachers Terri Savery and Kelly Zimmerman are again coordinating this event with their students, who range from ages 11 to 13. The art students express their visions of peace using a variety of mediums, including charcoal, crayon, pencil and paint. This year's theme is: "Imagine Peace." Returning judges are Thomas Paul Asklar, Stephen Bailey and Sue Sullivan. They join new judge Gretchen Brown.

Peace Poster chairpersons are Lions Lynn and Gary Zanardi.
