Town of Niagara Police Blotter for Sept. 13, 2012

The following is a sampling of calls received by the Town of Niagara Police between Aug. 31 and Sept. 6. During that time period, the police received 175 calls.

Friday, Aug. 31

•1900 block of Military Road, arrest. A 23-year-old Lewiston woman was arrested for falsely reporting an incident in the third degree, unlawful possession of marijuana, moving from a lane unsafely, obstructed view and inadequate headlights. Patrol answered a call of a hit and run accident at the mall and noted that the car reportedly hit matched the description of the car that left the scene at an earlier accident on 72nd Street.

•1500 block of Military Road, check situation. Patrol answered a call for a motorcyclist down in the middle of the road. Nothing found.

Saturday, Sept. 1

•1700 block of Pine Avenue, aid assist. Patrol dispatched to the city to assist with a fight of 250 people at a bar. Patrol and six other non-city units assisted Niagara Falls Police in handling calls, when city patrols dealing with two shooting incidents couldn't handle calls due to staffing.

•8200 block of Richmond Avenue, noise complaint. Resident complained of a loud band playing at a Military Road business behind his house. Patrol informed him the business had a permit and would be done by 7 p.m.

•Porter/Packard Road, driving while intoxicated. A 45-year-old Blanchard Drive woman was arrested for DWI after patrol received a reckless driving complaint involving her vehicle. She said she had two drinks, but refused both a breath test and drug test at the State Police barracks.

Sunday, Sept. 2

•1900 block of Military Road, accident. Two drivers who both claimed to be waiting for a van to pull out of a parking spot collided when the spot became available. Witness said it appeared to be a race to the parking spot that caused the accident.

•7000 block of Packard Road, suspicious situation. Residents believed they heard someone in the home. All exited until patrol came and checked the house.

Monday, Sept. 3

• Woodland Avenue and Laur Road, fire. Patrol advised residents who had a fire going in their back yard of the burn ban until October.

•8200 block of Cherry Lane, vandalism. Complainant reports someone threw a hockey net, rocks and a cinderblock into his pool overnight.

•7100 block of Packard Road, animal problem. Complainant reported her son, who was riding his bicycle near the Jetport restaurant, was bitten by a pit bull that broke free from its owner.

Tuesday, Sept. 4

•2500 block of Military Road, vandalism. A 78-year-old handicapped Military Road man was charged with criminal mischief after he was reportedly seen scratching the side of a car parked illegally in a handicapped spot by the vehicle's owner.

•3100 block of Woodland Avenue, noise complaint. Patrol answered two calls of a man in his garage playing his radio too loudly.

Wednesday, Sept. 5

•3200 block of Bellreng Drive, check situation. Caller reported burglary in progress with two subjects crawling through a first floor apartment window. Upon arrival, patrol found that the subjects had locked themselves out and were just making re-entry.

•1900 Military Road, check 911 call. Reported multiple 911 hang-up calls coming from various pay phones at the mall.

•800 block of Chestnut Place, suspicious person. Complainant said she turned on the light as she was about to exit the screened porch of the residence and an unknown male was standing in front of the door. The man fled, got into an older Dodge Caravan and left the area.

Thursday, Sept. 6

•400 block of Main Street, harassment. Complainant said her neighbor and ex-friend yelled at her and used profanity. Ongoing problem. Both were advised to avoid all contact with each other or both will be charged in the future.

•1500 block of Military Road, larceny. A 49-year-old Sherwood Avenue woman was arrested for shoplifting $1,219.19 in groceries.
