Town of Niagara Police Blotter for June 21, 2012

The following is a sampling of calls received by the Town of Niagara Police between May 29 and June 9.

Tuesday, May 29

•100 block of Expressway Village, fraud. Woman reported she received a call stating her grandson was in jail in Spain and asking money be sent.

•Rhode Island Avenue and Panama Street, juvenile problem. Group of juveniles gathered, possible fight to begin. Patrol dispersed.

•900 block of Sycamore Street, mental health. A 911 call received reporting 18-year-old had overdosed on allergy medication.

Wednesday, May 30

•South Whitham Drive and Military Road, fire. Vehicle fully involved in the engine compartment area.

•Various offenses. South Whitham and Military, 8200 block of Porter Road, Effie Drive and Tuscarora Road, Tuscarora and Porter Road,10300 block of Lockport Road, 8200 block of Packard Road, Military and Packard roads, Military Road, Packard Road, Porter Road and Witmer Road, traffic tickets. Tickets issued for various offenses in 14 separate incidents.

Thursday, May 31

•Porter Road, harassment. Business owner reported receiving harassing phone calls from an 84-year-old female who is claiming he stole a bracelet while working at her home.

•7900 block of Porter Road, vandalism. Resident reported someone cut the power line to his pool.

•4900 block of Saunders Settlement Road, disorderly conduct. Highly intoxicated female causing disturbance in a bar.

Friday, June 1

•Porter and Tuscarora Roads, driving while intoxicated. A 28-year-old Lindbergh Avenue woman was arrested after she was stopped for nearly hitting a patrol car. She failed sobriety tests and became belligerent and uncooperative and tried to run to her mother who had been called to the scene. A small bag of marijuana was found in the vehicle.

•3600 block of Miller Road, fire. Report of telephone pole on fire.

•3000 block of Lincoln Street, harassment. Man said his father picked him up from work and verbally harassed him. The father said it was nothing worth calling the police about.

Saturday, June 2

•4600 block of Witmer Road, sexual offense. Woman reported being with a man at a bar in Buffalo who later took her to a parking lot on Witmer Road where he assaulted and raped her and left her there without her shoes. A Caravelle Drive man was located and arrested.

•1600 block of Military Road, larceny. Complainant left her wallet at a restaurant while picking up food. Restaurant management reported finding the wallet, but an unknown family came up and claimed it.

•Tuscarora Road, a 45-year-old man was arrested after backing out of a driveway on Sunnyside Drive and nearly colliding with a police vehicle and another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. He was found to have a suspended license.

•7900 block of Packard Road, fire. Patrol assisted Niagara Active Hose Volunteer Fire Co. at a kitchen fire.

Sunday, June 3

•8500 block of Porter Road, mental health. A man was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for a mental health evaluation after several late night calls reporting vandalism and requesting EMS services.

•4300 block of Military Road, missing juvenile. A girl left a note stating she was running away. Later, officers were notified she had returned home and said she had spent the night in the field behind the old Military Road School.

•I-190 and Witmer Road, assist. Patrol assisted state police with traffic control due to a truck fire on the northbound lane of the I-190.

Monday, June 4

•7500 block of Porter Road, local law violation. A 67-year-old man was issued appearance tickets for five building code violations.

•1600 block of Tuscarora Road, 911 call. An elderly female reported unknown subject inside residence. Family members on location. Female suffering from Alzheimer's.

•Porter Road, Effie Drive and Tuscarora Road, Military Road, Lockport Road, Tuscarora Road, Packard Road, traffic tickets. Patrol issued tickets for various offenses in 15 different incidents.

Tuesday, June 5

•2200 block of Saunders Settlement Road, warrant. Patrol picked up a 17-year-old Mount Hope Road resident at school on a failure to appear warrant.

•7100 block of Lockport Road, Miller Road and Colonial Drive, 8000 block of Porter Road, Packard Road, 2700 block of Military Road, traffic tickets. Patrol issued tickets for various offenses in 10 different incidents.

•3100 block of Woodland Drive, noise complaint. Patrol received one call and later a return call for a loud party around a campfire in a neighbor's back yard.

Wednesday, June 6

•5000 block of Saunders Settlement Road, stolen vehicle. A 2000 Pontiac Montana was reported stolen from a lot in front of a business.

•Military Road, DMV suspension. A 50-year-old Bellreng Drive resident told patrol, "I'll be honest, I might have an insurance problem" after he was stopped and found to have a revoked license and registration and had failed to turn in his license plates at DMV.

•3100 block of Jordan Court, suspicious incident. Complainant reported a male with a heavy accent called her and said he worked for Microsoft and said her computer might have a virus. She started to go through the steps he advised until she became suspicious.

Thursday, June 7

•5100 block of Tuscarora Road, domestic. Woman reported her husband pushed her and threw items out of the refrigerator because she did not have breakfast ready.

•8000 block of Cherry Lane, juvenile problem. Father reported his 12-year-old son has been misbehaving and smoking marijuana.

•200 block of Anthony Drive, assault. Woman reported her son's girlfriend struck her in the face with a plastic bag containing two cans of food. The girlfriend, who was arrested for assault, said she punched the woman in the face for giving the boyfriend crack.

Friday, June 8

•4400 block of Military Road, assist citizen. Woman locked her baby in the car while exiting the vehicle.

•2400 block of Military Road. Customer bought a bag of cat food, then walked out with two more without paying for them.

•1500 block of Military Road, larceny. A 23-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting after allegedly taking $90 of groceries, soap and shampoo. He was traced through the license plate of the vehicle he left in.

Saturday, June 9

•Military Road, accident. Driver was stopped in traffic when a car coming up behind hit the rear of his vehicle. Driver of second vehicle said traffic stopped suddenly. An eight-month pregnant woman in the first vehicle was taken by Rural Metro Ambulance to Sisters Hospital in Buffalo for evaluation.

•Garlow Road, aid assist. Patrol assisted Lewiston Police officer with two males who had fled from him. The men were located on the 8100 block of Garlow Road.
