Megan Hoover named Student Employee of the Year at Niagara University

Megan Hoover, a senior English and education major from Kenmore who works in the Office of Admissions, was named Niagara University's Student Employee of the Year at an awards ceremony held on Friday, March 23, in the Heritage Room of Clet Hall. Hoover was selected for the honor over 22 other student employees who were nominated for the award by university employees in their sector.

In addition to her schoolwork, Hoover is involved with NU's Honors Program, the education and English honor societies, the Niagara Reads committee, the Kiernan Center advisory committee, captains the club field hockey team and volunteers for the Special Olympics. In admissions, Hoover has served as a tour guide and student ambassador for four years, and maintains a blog on the Niagara University website, which can be viewed at www.niagara.edu/megan-hoover.

The selection committee for this year's award consisted of the Rev. Kevin Creagh, C.M., associate vice president of campus ministry; Mitchell Alegre, director of the EAGLE Student Leadership Program; adjunct management professor Jennifer Garey, associate director of financial aid; and Suzanne Curry, a graduate assistant in the Office of Career Services.

Michael Konopski, Niagara's dean of enrollment management, and Robert Swanson, associate director of career services, spoke during the awards ceremony while Creagh provided the invocation.
