U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 33, Buffalo, has announced its next series of safe boating classes for 2012 - the about boating safely course.

Courses will be held on Mondays, March 5 and 12, both from 6 to 10 p.m., at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church Hall, 1395 George Urban Blvd., corner Dick Road in Cheektowaga.

The course, offered by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, meets New York education requirements for jet-ski/personal watercraft operation and qualifies youth, ages 10 to 18, to legally operate a conventional vessel alone on state waters. Upon completion of the course and an examination, a certificate and card are issued to the student on the same day of the class, enabling them to operate a vessel immediately. A boat owner who completes this course may be eligible to receive a discount on boat insurance.
