Phil Buchanan to MC event April 26
The Grand Island Chamber of Commerce has announced that the Holiday Inn Grand Island will once again show its community support by being a platinum sponsor for the 46th annual Citizen of the Year awards.
This event will be held at the Holiday Inn, 100 Whitehaven Road, on Thursday, April 26, and will honor businesses and individuals whose contributions have made Grand Island a better place to live.
Grand Island's own Phil Buchanan will act as this year's master of ceremonies. Buchanan has lived on Grand Island for the past 48 years and has been very involved within the community. He worked as the news director, writer, editor, and reporter for WBEN, Channel 4 and stations located in Youngstown, Ohio. Buchanan also has been a Grand Island developer and partner of Buchanan-Eichel Homes Inc. He has been active in many local organizations, such as the Architectural Review Board, Cable Committee, library board, and the Master Plan Update Committee. He has been a liturgical deacon at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, twice president and former board member of the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Rotary Club, president of the New York State Press Broadcasters Association as well as a member of the Grand Island, New York State and National Association of Home Builders.
