Winder received the proclamation during Monday's Town Board meeting. He is pictured accepting the proclamation from Town Supervisor Mary Cooke, far left, and was joined by his parents Steve and Theresa Winder. Also pictured is Councilman Raymond Billica. (photo by Larry Austin)

Winder's Eagle Scout project entailed the redesign and rebuild of the landscaping surrounding the memorial monument at DeGlopper Park for easier access and maintenance, an endeavor that required 133 man-hours involving 26 people, 23 of whom came out to work on the memorial, according to the proclamation.

Winder has earned 21 merit badges for Eagle Scout and an additional three merit badges toward his bronze Eagle Palm.

The Grand Island Town Board's next meeting is Monday, March 5. The regular meeting for Feb. 21 is cancelled so that council members may attend the annual Association of Towns meeting.
