Niagara Wheatfield Amateur Athletics in a combined effort with the Niagara Wheatfield Athletics Alumni have announced the development of a new sports complex.

The group has purchased 31 acres of land on the corner of Walmore and Saunders Settlement Roads with the intention of developing multiple soccer/lacrosse fields and multi-use fields. Niagara Wheatfield Amateur Athletics also has added travel soccer to its existing programs in conjunction with the development of a new field complex. The program is affiliated with NY State West and will be participating in the Buffalo Western NY Soccer League starting this summer.

Teams are being created for youth ages 10 to 19, boys and girls. Teams will be established this year based on interest. Those interested in joining the NWAA team for the upcoming 2012 summer season should email Richard Crossley, president of the Niagara Wheatfield Amateur Athletics and its alumni group, at [email protected]. Experienced coaches also are needed.

The home fields will be within the Niagara-Wheatfield school district.

"The goal is to better support the Niagara-Wheatfield soccer program with the hopes of allowing kids to play together year-round on centralized teams," Crossley said. "Our U18 and U13 and U10 boys teams as well as the U10 girls are accepting players for the next couple weeks. If you are interested in more information, go to www.nwaasports.net under travel soccer and email the appropriate coaches for more information. We look forward to seeing you on the field."

NWAA has been serving families in the Wheatfield, Lewiston, Town of Niagara, North Tonawanda and Niagara Falls area for more than 30 years providing quality youth sports to the generations. NWAA is a completely volunteer group that obtains most of its funding through donations and fundraising events.
