Northbound South Grand Island Bridge Project wins award

The overnight panelized deck replacement of the I-190 northbound South Grand Island Bridge bridge project was selected by the Association for Bridge Construction and Design as the 2010 award winner in the over $1 million category.

This project is the first panelized, overnight bridge deck replacement project in Western New York and is a prime example of accelerated bridge construction. The construction cost for this project was $48 million.

The New York State Thruway Authority is the owner of the bridge. Bergmann Associates was the designer and American Bridge was the contractor.
