The Niagara University women's hockey team is holding its annual "Pink the Rink" game on Friday, Feb. 3, when they host Mercyhurst University at 7 p.m.

All four of the women's hockey teams in the College Hockey America conference are taking part in the sixth annual "Skate for the Cure" fundraiser. The program was started to help raise awareness and funds toward the fight against breast cancer. In an effort to "pink" Dwyer Arena, the hockey team will wear custom-made pink jerseys and encourage everyone in attendance to join them by also wearing pink.

Proceeds from the initiative will benefit Niagara's "Partner in Pink," Mount St. Mary's Hospital, as well as dedicated to an organization fighting breast cancer at the CHA Championships held this year on the campus of Robert Morris University, March 2-3.

For the second consecutive year the team chose Ines Squizzato, grandmother of Niagara women's hockey player, Kristen Richards, to take part in the honorary puck-drop at Friday's game.

Raffle tickets will be available for a Hallmark basket, Buffalo Sabres tickets and more. Everyone in attendance will have an opportunity to participate in a post-game skate and autograph session with the team. Team members also will be selling their game work Pink jersey to raise money.
