From Jan. 20-28, 2012, NU Theatre's annual Short Play Festival makes for a fascinating dose of theater - and at bargain prices. Three cycles of 10-minute plays written by various playwrights will be presented over two consecutive weekends. Comedies, dramas and everything in between - it's NU's debut of nearly 20 student directors producing a smorgasbord of professionally published plays. If one production is not to your taste, you only have to wait 10 minutes for the next one. (With some plays, adult situations and language may be an appropriate warning to anticipate.)

The Short Play Festival will be on stage in the Leary Theatre within the Elizabeth Ann Clune Center for Theatre, Clet Hall, on the Niagara University campus at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 20 (Cycle A) and 2 p.m. on Jan. 21 (Cycle A); on Jan. 21 at 7:30 p.m. (Cycle B) and 2 p.m. on Jan. 22 (Cycle B); and at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 27 (Cycle C) and 2 p.m. on Jan. 28 (Cycle C).

Producing director of the Short Play Festival is Doug Zschiegner, associate professor and associate director of Niagara University Theatre. Production manager is theatre studies design/technology major Steph Schmidt.

Student directors of the productions include: Andrew Adolf of Lancaster; Kerisa Bonville of Fairport; Richard Cole of Niagara Falls, Ontario; Michele Dalia of Montville, N.J.; Fabio H. Del Carlo of Harrison, N.J.; Steven Foote of Ellicot City, Md.; Keirsten Lynne Greifenstein of Cleveland; Celine Keefe of Williamsville; Megan Kemple of Fort Drum; Renee Landrigan of Lockport; Brianna Lanoye of Getzville; Dave Spychalski of Holley; Primo R. Thomas of Binghamton; Alan Trinca of Buffalo; Grace Turner of Buffalo; Michael Wachowiak of Kenmore; and John Woodley of Niagara Falls.
