Looks like the Lewiston ice rink is starting to take off, both in popularity and events.

Town Parks and Recreation Director Mike Dashineau announced this week that Casa Antica will offer a "Taste of Lewiston" this weekend at the warming house, located adjacent to the rink at Academy Park.

On Friday, Dec. 16, the Lewiston-Porter Class of 2012 will host Lew-Port night from 8 p.m. until midnight. The event is a fundraiser to benefit the senior class. Students with a valid Lew-Port student ID will be able to skate "in a safe and fun environment," says Dashineau. A $5 donation to the senior class will be charged.

Dashineau also reported that starting Monday, Dec. 12, rink hours will be 4 to 9 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 9 p.m. on Sundays.
