The Grand Island Town Board issued two proclamations at its meeting on Monday.

In the first photo, the board recognized Evan Shaw of Boy Scout Troop 630, sponsored by St. Stephen R.C. Church, on the occasion of his Eagle Scout award. Shaw earned his Eagle Scout rank after completing a cleaning, painting and repair project at the Nike Base Community Center. The project involved more than 160 hours of work and involved approximately 30 other Scouts, friends and family members. Shaw's Court of Honor took place Oct. 28. He is pictured receiving the town proclamation from Grand Island Town Supervisor Peter McMahon. Shaw's parents, Patricia and Scott Shaw were on hand for the proclamation.

In the second photo, McMahon shakes hands with Fred Wornick, commander of Grand Island American Legion Post No. 1346, after presenting a town proclamation noting November as American Legion Membership Month. The proclamation urged "all eligible veterans and service members to join the Grand Island Post No. 1346 American Legion, especially during this monthlong membership drive."

"It's my pleasure to present this to you with our congratulations for the good work that you do," McMahon said. "As an added bonus, I'm renewing my membership today."
