Niagara County customers purchased 2,353 "Opportunities Unlimited Donuts" in August during a special promotion created by the Niagara County-area Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop restaurant owners.

At the Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop located at 8500 Niagara Falls Blvd., Niagara Falls, restaurant owner Bob Burns presented a check for $2,000 to Connie S. Brown, executive director of Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara.

Niagara County-area Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shops fashioned a distinctive blue and white sprinkled vanilla dip donut to help raise funds OUN, an area non-profit serving people of all ages with developmental disabilities. The donuts were sold at the Niagara Falls, Wheatfield, North Tonawanda and Lockport shops.

"Having the chance to help out such wonderful local organizations like Opportunities Unlimited makes being a Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop owner all the more rewarding," Burns said. "We are fortunate to be able to give back to the community who supports us and makes us part of their everyday routine."

"This fundraiser was really a first for this area and we are proud to be selected as the recipient organization," Brown said. "I know that employees, volunteers and parents ordered dozens of donuts in advance to take to meetings and their workplaces. The generosity of Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shops and the community will help us ensure that people with disabilities achieve their goals and become more independent."
