Tired of dull hair? Do you want to experiment with a new hair color or get those fun, chic summer highlights you see celebrities sporting?

Village Loft Salon in Lewiston, owned by MaryAnn Wittcop and her son, Jason, offers beauty services to serve every client's needs.

"We are trying to help serve the village by providing a professional, friendly atmosphere," said MaryAnn. "It's historic and eclectic."

"We want to suit every individual need," added Jason.

The salon is unique because it features organic hair care. Conventional hair products, such as colorants and synthetic-based chemicals, can cause dandruff and scalp irritation. Organic hair products are beneficial to the environment while nourishing and moisturizing hair.

"Organic hair products are very important because a lot of things are changing in the world," said Jason. "We like to be environmentally conscious."

The two main organic products that salon uses are Derma and Neuma. Both products will leave hair feeling moisturized, repaired and voluminous.

"We are the only salon that carries Neuma on the East Coast," said Jason.

MaryAnn and Jason have many years experience in salon services. They have both worked in the field for more than 15 years and have trained with experts all over the world.

"My son and I trained for years in Europe," said MaryAnn.

"My mom and I had a lot of international training," Jason confirmed.

Some of the services the salon offers is women, men and children's' cuts, hair coloring and blow-drying European styling. Prices are $30 for women's cuts, $18 for men's, $60 for base coloring, $70 for partial foil and $90 for a full foil.

The atmosphere gives clients a retro style-like feel. The historic building has been renovated and remodeled, but still offers the '50s salon style. The hair dryers are originals that have been in the shop since 1959.

"It's like combining two different worlds brought together as one," said MaryAnn.

"The shop has a very retro feel," said Jason. "It's a trendy, very cool place."

The Wittcops both explained that the hair dryers, wooden beams and black and white paintings will make clients feel like they are going back in time to the '50s, but offers greater salon advancements at the same time.

The salon is offering specials. For any color service, receive a free haircut. With any haircut, receive a free organic prescriptive conditioning treatment. Any student, faculty member or administrator from Niagara County can receive a 10 percent discount for any service.

Village Loft Salon is located on the second floor at 441 Center St. Its hours are Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
