Erie County Sheriff's Department Report for June 24, 2011

The Erie County Sheriff's Office reports its officers responded to 211 calls from June 11 to 17. Below is a sampling of only those incidents the ECSO reported to the Island Dispatch.

Saturday, June 11

•Grand Island Boulevard, larceny - A complainant stated that sometime while she was at an amusement park her car was broken into and personal items and cash were stolen. An investigation is ongoing. The Erie County Sheriffs Office reminds patrons not to leave any items of value in an unattended vehicle whether the vehicle is locked or unlocked.

 •Baseline Road, youth activity - A complainant stated that approximately four youths were swimming in a pool with no permission to do so. Patrol was unable to locate the youths, who were chased off by the complainant.

 Sunday, June 12

•Alt Boulevard, suspicious incident - A complainant stated an iPod was stolen from her unlocked car overnight. Patrol located the iPod a short distance away and returned it to the owner.

•Grand Island Boulevard, larceny - A complainant stated that sometime while she was at an amusement park her car was broken into and personal items and cash were stolen. An investigation is ongoing.

 •Bedell Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated several persons were around the apartment complex smoking marijuana. Patrol unable to locate the subjects.

Monday, June 13

•Baseline Road, suspicious incident - The manager of a supermarket said a couple youths took a shopping cart from the parking lot. Patrol located the youths, who returned the cart to the lot.

 Tuesday, June 14

•Whitehaven Road, suspicious Person - A complainant stated two males were acting "suspicious" in the area earlier in the morning. The complainant was advised to call if the males were seen again.

 Wednesday, June 15

•Tracey Lane, all-terrain vehicle operation - A complainant stated an ATV was operating, traveling up and down the street. Patrol located the ATV operator and advised him.

•Whitehaven Road, fraud - A complainant stated his credit card was used without his permission at a gas station/convenience store. An investigation is ongoing.

 •Cardinal Lane, ATV operation - A complainant stated two dirt bikes were traveling at high rates of speed in the area. Patrol was unable to locate the dirt bikes.

Thursday, June 16

•Spicer Creek Run, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that she awakened by a loud noise, and when she looked outside she saw someone stealing her car. Patrol located the vehicle nearby and found that it was the complainant's son who had the car.

 •East River Road, burglary - Patrol was dispatched to an alarm at a neighborhood restaurant. Upon arriving on location, patrol noticed that forced entry was made into the building. An investigation is ongoing.

•Grand Island Boulevard, narcotics/traffic arrest - Following a traffic stop, patrol arrested a 25-year-old man from Niagara Falls after a Department of Motor Vehicles check showed his license was suspended. Crack cocaine was also found in the vehicle after a subsequent search. Further investigation found that the subject had also just stolen some steaks from a supermarket, which were also located in the vehicle. The man was arraigned in Town of Grand Island Court and remanded to the Erie County Holding Center on $5,000 bail.

 Friday, June 17

•Windham Lane, youth activity - A complainant stated she saw some youths in the area possibly using drugs. Patrol was unable to locate the youths.

•Staley Road, larceny - A complainant stated that sometime in recent days, an unknown person or persons entered his garage and stole various items. An investigation is ongoing.
