Niagara Frontier Publications and Metro Group are pleased to announce a joint advertising partnership that will benefit both companies and, most importantly, Western New York readers and advertisers.

"In order to better serve our customers, we recently discontinued publication of our Metro Lewiston/Youngstown edition," Metro's Major Accounts Manager Gary Durawa said. "We are now placing our customers in The Lewiston-Porter Sentinel. The Lewiston-Porter Sentinel covers the same geographic area as the Metro Lewiston/Youngstown edition."

"Niagara Frontier Publications has been publishing the Sentinel for 24 years, providing northern Niagara County residents with 'need to read' news, community happenings, features and exclusive content," NFP Publisher Skip Mazenauer said. "As an integral part of the community, we've enjoyed serving our business partners - and growing, as they, in turn, have grown."

"With its superior editorial content, it enjoys much greater acceptance in the community," Durawa said.

That increased readership and acceptance, he noted, leads to a higher return on investment for advertisers.

Metro opted to cease publishing its northern Niagara County and Grand Island editions and focus on growing its other community newspapers. The news group has made a concerted effort to bolster the editorial coverage in its other editions, and those newspapers continue to flourish in Western New York.

"All of our other editions continue to enjoy strong community support and are published as scheduled in the past," Durawa said.

"For the latest community news and information in the Youngstown/Lewiston areas, look for the Lewiston-Porter Sentinel each Saturday and the Grand Island PennySaver on Tuesdays," he added.

"Our publishing company dates back to 1944," Mazenauer said. "Our success on Grand Island enabled us to expand into the western half of Niagara County."

No editorial changes are expected. Both NFP and Metro will continue to run independent newsrooms.

Metro serves the Lockport (eastern Niagara County), Tonawanda-North Tonawanda, Niagara Falls, Buffalo, Hamburg and Cheektowaga markets. Visit Metro online at www.metrowny.com.
