Niagara Catholic's 'MasterMinds' honored

Niagara Catholic High School is proud to announce its 2010-11 "MasterMinds" team achieved first-place honors in Buffalo League 5, comprised of seven area public and private high schools, finishing the season with a 12 wins and 0 losses.

In the playoffs, the Niagara Catholic team continued on to round two of the finals held at Canisius College.

"MasterMinds" is an academic team competition similar to the College Bowl program formally shown on television.  The program extends throughout the school year and provides opportunities for students with academic strengths to showcase their talents against some of the best and brightest from other local high schools. 

Members of Niagara Catholic's "MasterMinds" group include: Charmaine Merchant, Maria Sciarrino, Ami Muldoon, Beatrice Preti (captain), Lauren Preti, Danielle Rosini, Ye Jin Jeon, Leilena Bayou, Jeffrey Simoneit, King Fatunmbi, Justin Leathers, Timothy Russ, Griffin Gansworth and Prince Fatunmbi. 

Senior Beatrice Preti has been named MVP of the 2010-11 "MasterMinds" All-Stars, Buffalo League 5, for the third consecutive year. Leathers, a junior, ranked in the top 10 of individual scorers in Buffalo League 5.
